Rick Bisio - Founder

rick bisioAlthough many people would say my entry into the franchise business was in 1994, I would have to say it happened long before that. The franchise business is just a subsection of entrepreneurship, something I have been involved in my entire life.


I was born in Kansas City, the son of a hard working and independently minded father.  Naturally, my father owned his own business.  Entrepreneurship is what I knew growing up and it is the foundation of how I look at the world.  If you want your children to grow up confident in their own abilities, start a business and let them take part.  It will give them the confidence to tackle anything in life.

Mike Kohler

mike kohlerMike Kohler brings a dual perspective to The Educated Franchisee that should resonate strongly with the prospective franchise owner who is weighing the uncertainties about buying a franchise.  Mike learned valuable lessons about buying a franchise from his roles as both franchisor and franchisee.

In his business relationship with the ActionCOACH business coaching franchise, Mike acted as the statewide Master Franchisor working with prospects that were considering buying a franchise.  At the same time, he also enjoyed the franchisee perspective as a business coach himself, employing the ActionCOACH system to provide valuable counsel to small business owners on a holistic basis, from marketing to HR to operations.

Britt Schroeter


Ms. Schroeter’s experience as an entrepreneur, teacher and counselor make her uniquely qualified to be involved in this project.  She began her franchising career in educational franchising with Kiddie Academy Child Care Learning Centers, moving from Franchise Specialist to Executive Vice President during her tenure. Britt broadened her exposure and expertise in franchising working for Decorating Den, Molly Maid, Mr. HandyMan and 1-800-DryClean. From there, she became the Director of Franchise Development for Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc., propelling the system to the largest growth experienced in their twenty-plus year history.
